6. Main task:

To monitor and advise on the projects for international protection and harmonisation of protection of:

  • Computer software

  • intellectual property in connection with information networks

  • artificial intelligence

  • integrated circuits

  • in particular projects of WIPO, GATT/WTO and EU

To monitor and advise on problems related to the implementation of such protection or harmonisation of protection.

To formulate, and with the approval of the Bureau to submit and represent AIPPI’s standpoint vis-à-vis international GO’s.

7. Additional Monitoring:

To monitor in addition:

  • developments of general interest in the field

8. Advise to the Bureau:

To advise on:

  • developments in the field rendering intervention of AIPPI desirable

  • issues meriting further study

  • instruction to AIPPI Representatives at GO Meetings

  • possibilities of cooperation with other NGOs

9. Documentation:

Collect and provide the Bureau with:

  • all international GO documentation

  • other documents of general interest on the subject (the Bureau receives WIPO documents directly)

11. Reporting:

To provide (in addition to point 7):

  • annually 2 months before each international Meeting an account of activities since the last such Meeting (incl. negative Report)

  • within 1 month a written Report on all GO Meetings attended

  • immediately Reports on matters of special interest in the field

12. Special Instructions:

Matters relating copyright protection under WIPO Treaty re to be coordinated with Q124.

Matters relating to the protection of intellectual property in international networks by tradenames or trademarks are to be coordinated with Q143.

The Chairman of the Committee shall inform Committee Officers, and in the case of Special Committees the Committee Members, of relevant Committee activities and shall seek, if possible, their advise and cooperation in formulating the Committees views.
