5. Main task:

To prepare and handle the question placed on the agenda of the Congress in Rio de Janeiro 1998.
To follow and monitor the development of the protection of Trademarks and Trade names in connection with Internet domain names in international legislation under the current WIPO project.
To formulate and with the approval of the Bureau to submit and to represent AIPPI's standpoint at WIPO and other GO Meetings.

7. Additional Monitoring: To monitor in addition:
  • the development of multinational legislation and harmonisation projects of EU and other international GOs
  • multinational legislation and other political measures likely to impair protection
  • major national legislation and jurisprudence
8. Advise to the Bureau: To advise on:
  • preparation of Working Guidelines
  • Summary Report, Draft Resolution
  • developments in the field rendering intervention of AIPPI desirable
  • issues meriting further study
  • instruction to AIPPI Representatives at GO Meetings
  • possibilities of cooperation with other NGOs
9. Documentation: Collect and provide the Bureau with:
  • all EU and other GO documentation on the subject (the Bureau receives WIPO documents directly)
  • national documentation of particular interest
10. Reporting: To provide (in addition to point 7):
  • annually 2 months before each international Meeting an account of activities since the last such Meeting (incl. negative Report)
  • within 1 month a written Report on all GO Meetings attended
  • immediately Reports on matters of special interest in the field
11. Special Instructions: WIPO related matters are to be coordinated with Q92.
An information exchange on intellectual property issues related to information networks should be maintained with Q132 and Q160.
The Chairman of the Committee shall inform Committee Officers, and in the case of Special Committees the Committee Members, of relevant Committee activities and shall seek, if possible, their advise and cooperation in formulating the Committees views.
