Speakers
Chiara Arena (Italy)
Chiara Arena is an Italian lawyer specialized in copyright law and information society service provider liability, having experience in mediation, arbitration and litigation before civil and criminal courts. After practicing in several preeminent law firms of Milan, she is now legal consultant for the Motion Picture Association EMEA. She is also pursuing a phd on copyright and AI at the University of Pavia, where she graduated cum laude in 2020.
Chiara obtained her master’s degree in Intellectual Property at the University of Turin in partnership with WIPO in 2023. She publishes articles on several IP topics and speaks at conferences and courses in her fields of specialties.
She is a proud member of AIPPI Italy, particularly of the group of youngest members, and from this year she is honored to be also part of the Young AIPPI members Committee.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with the family, especially with her baby that followed her in many IP events, practicing yoga or doing gardening.
Andres Rodriguez (Colombia)
Andrés Rodríguez is a Corporate Counsel at edtech company Anthology, with over nine (9) years of experience advising clients across different sectors in intellectual property, technology, entertainment law, and commercial law, including M&A. He holds an LLB from Universidad del Norte (Colombia) and an IP LLM from the University of New Hampshire, earned through a full ASIPI scholarship, where he was awarded the Franklin Pierce Center of IP Excellence Award. Mr. Rodríguez is a former researcher at the Center for AI and Digital Policy, a professor, columnist, and international speaker on IP and data protection matters.
Matias Valenzuela (Chile)
Matías Valenzuela is a senior associate, biochemist, and head of the patent department at Covarrubias, an industrial property firm in Chile. Matías is an expert in patent protection matters and strategies for inventions and industrial designs. He has completed several patent specialization courses offered by WIPO, such as state of the art searches, patent drafting, and the PCT system, among others. Matías’s specialties include the pharmaceutical, agrochemical, and biotechnology industries, among other related fields. He also specializes in and collaborates on matters related to plant varieties and regulatory affairs.
Furthermore, Matías is a member and actively participates in the committees of the following international conferences: INTA (International Trademark Association), AIPLA (American Intellectual Property Law Association), AIPPI (Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriété Intellectuelle), and ASIPI (Asociación Interamericana de Propiedad Industrial).
