Juhani is a Doctoral Researcher at the University of Helsinki. The topic of his doctoral thesis is securing of evidence in intellectual property disputes, and his research interests, in general, focus on procedural issues that are closely linked to material law, especially in the field of intellectual property rights.
Formerly, Juhani worked as an attorney-at-law Roschier, Attorneys Ltd. where he specialized in dispute resolution with a focus on intellectual property disputes. He has wide litigation experience in matters ranging from patent and other intellectual property disputes to private enforcement of competition law, commercial disputes, unfair competition lawsuits, product liability litigation, and criminal matters.

Dr Christof Augenstein, Founding Partner, Kather Augenstein Rechtsanwälte PartGmbB, Germany
Dr Christof Augenstein is name partner at Kather Augenstein. He has worked as a litigator for more than 20 years and became a Certified Specialist in Intellectual Property in 2007, enforcing patents, trademarks, and designs in litigation. Clients around the world value his advice, particularly in complex, technically demanding patent infringement cases. He has acted as first-chair lawyer in numerous standard-essential patent disputes.
Christof is widely recommended across the leading directories – Best Lawyers/Handelsblatt, Managing IP/IP Stars, Legal 500, JUVE, Chambers & Partners, Leaders League, Who’s Who Legal, IAM Patent 1000, and IAM Strategy 300. He co-publishes an international commentary with fellow European litigators, contributes to the Beck-Online Commentary on the UPC Agreement, and co-authors an international commentary project alongside appointed UPC judges.
He regularly teaches UPC seminars for the VPP and at the Center for International Intellectual Property Studies (CEIPI) at the University of Strasbourg, where he is also involved in training judges.
Prior to co-founding Kather Augenstein, Dr Augenstein worked in various positions at prominent national and international law firms in Düsseldorf, Cologne, Paris and London. He holds a PhD in law from the University of Freiburg/Germany.

Trevor Cook, Of Counsel, Bird & Bird, United Kingdom
Trevor Cook is Of Counsel at Bird & Bird LLP. He is an English solicitor with 50 years’ experience of intellectual property litigation. He was a partner in Bird & Bird LLP from 1981 to 2013 and in Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr LLP from 2014 to 2022. He is Chair of the British Copyright Council, was for several years President of the UK group of AIPPI, and is on the WIPO list of arbitrators. In addition to countless articles and book chapters, Mr Cook has authored the following books: A User’s Guide to Patents; Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology and the Law; EU Intellectual Property Law; A European Perspective as to the Extent to Which Experimental Use, and Certain Other, Defences to Patent Infringement, Apply to Differing Types of Research and The Protection of Regulatory Data in the Pharmaceutical and Other Sectors. He is co-author of Practical Intellectual Property Precedents and International Intellectual Property Arbitration. He is editor of Sterling on World Copyright Law; Trade Secret Protection – A Global Guide and The Patent Litigation Law Review and is one of the general editors of The Modern Law of Patents.
