The Investment and Trade Court, established under Royal Decree No. 35/2025, officially commenced operations on 1 October  2025. Operating under the supervision of the Supreme Judicial Council, the court is based in Muscat and marks a significant milestone in Oman’s judicial modernization.

The court holds exclusive jurisdiction over a wide range of commercial and investment-related matters, including:

  • Intellectual property disputes (patents, trademarks, industrial designs, and trade secrets)
  • Competition, anti-monopoly, and unfair trade practices
  • Practices harmful to national products in international trade
  • E-commerce and electronic transaction disputes
  • Public–private partnership (PPP) contracts
  • Investment, insolvency, and arbitration-related claims

Cases filed prior to 1 October 2025 will remain before the courts where they were originally submitted.
