Qatar and Republic of Korea Cooperate on Development of a National Intellectual Property Strategy
23 Jan 2026 | Newsletter
Qatar has entered into an agreement with the Republic of Korea to develop a national intellectual property (IP) strategic plan as part of broader efforts to strengthen its IP ecosystem and support innovation-led growth.
Under the agreement, the Korea Intellectual Property Strategy Agency will assist in preparing the national IP strategy, including an assessment of the existing IP environment, the identification of strategic objectives and priorities, and the establishment of performance indicators for implementation.
The initiative reflects Qatar’s policy focus on integrating intellectual property into economic competitiveness and innovation agendas, consistent with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the objectives of the Third National Development Strategy.
No immediate legislative or procedural changes have been announced. However, the development of a national IP strategy may result in more coordinated IP policies and institutional alignment over the medium term, with potential relevance for rights holders, investors, and innovation-oriented sectors.
