The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) in Qatar has recently signed a strategic partnership program with the Korea Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) to support the development of a national intellectual property strategy and strengthen institutional capacity in the country.

The agreement builds on a memorandum of understanding signed between both sides in June 2023 in Seoul. It sets the framework for bilateral cooperation and aims to promote an innovation-based economy by enhancing Qatar’s legislative and regulatory IP environment.

The partnership will focus on human resource development, benchmarking global best practices, and conducting consultations with stakeholders to identify needs in the IP sector. The initiative will also facilitate knowledge and expertise transfer from Korea to support Qatar’s national innovation goals.

Both parties will continuously monitor the program’s implementation to ensure its effectiveness and alignment with broader strategic objectives.
