We are excited about the successful webinar series launch of “IP and Climate Change” on 14 March.

After a successful webinar series collaboration with ASIPI in 2023 and 2022 in the field of Traditional Knowledge and Genetic Resources, it is a pleasure for us to build on it and continue this collaboration in 2024. Last year, under the great leadership of Martin Michaus, Chair of the Standing Committee of IP and GRTK, we were able to run four webinars throughout the year covering several jurisdictions with excellent speakers.

This year, again with great passion from Martin Michaus, we engaged with the Standing Committee of IP and Sustainability and ASIPI Verde members to prepare the program and the topics of four sessions.

The objective of this year’s webinar series is knowledge sharing and learning on the importance of the intersection of IP and Climate Change. It is about raising awareness of the consequences of climate change and sustainability trends, as well as understanding the positive impact of innovation on climate change and the impact on the environment by the production and/or destruction of counterfeited goods.

I would like to thank the speakers of the first webinar from 14 March, Paola Andrea Romero Torres and Erika Starost, and the moderator María del Pilar López for their great contribution. They explored the definition and reasons for becoming green companies, as well as the crucial role of intellectual property in this process. With examples from leading companies, they addressed topics such as sustainable brands, empowerment projects, and the benefits for both businesses and the planet.
